Washington, Apr 3 (Prensa Latina) The party of President George W. Bush won today a new candidate to the White House when Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, of known xenophobic tendencies, confirmed he would be running for office.

Tancredo officially confirmed the beginning of his campaign for the White House and warned he would base his election program on a promotion to strongly reject illegal immigration.

I am announcing my decision to lead US citizens from Pennsylvania Avenue and above all, to win our struggle against undocumented immigrants, proclaimed the Colorado legislator.

In a radio interview broadcast in Iowa , the Republican leader reaffirmed he is an all-out fan for reinforcing border security and a fervent antagonist of amnesty or part-time and invited immigrant workers.

Millions of illegal immigrants of different nations come to this country to threaten the great American tradition of assimilating foreigners, said Tancredo.

The new Republican proposal for an immigration reform in the United States is a big disappointment and absolutely unacceptable, stressed an editorial of La Opinion newspaper last week.

It is a project against family values and represents a shame for the Bush administration, which supports this merciless and unviable plan, underlined the Los Angeles newspaper.

As a first measure, the initiative completely contradicts the apparently conciliatory message of Bush on family values. The text shows the president´s words do not refer to the undocumented immigrants, says La Opinion.
