Venezuela´s VEA newspaper accused the US ambassador, William Brownfield, of encouraging secessionism as a way to confront the policy of President Hugo Chavez.
VEA´s editorial suggested that the US embassy explain Brownfield´s serious statements in his recent trip to the rich oil Zulia state.
The paper says that although the any secessionist or antinational attempt conflicts with the Zulia people´s attitude, there are some dishonest politicians that have get to the point of considering a division of the nation to fulfill their objectives.
The editorial criticized that every time opposition sectors say there is a crisis, they try to bring about their ambition of creating an independent state separate from Venezuela. The newspaper says that the long arm of the US Empire accompanies this desire, and sheds light on the 'warm atmosphere' the US diplomat experienced on his visit to Zulia.
