On April 15, PAME Secretariat in Catering-Tourism and the Trade Union of Workers in Catering-Tourism-Hotels of Athens demonstrated at the McDonald’s at Syntagma Sq, of Athens. The demonstration took place to express international solidarity with the strike and the demonstrations of the American workers in Fast-Food restaurants, commerce and services to establish minimum wage based on the workers’ needs. The workers in the multinational company McDonald’s fight to increase and establish Minimum Wage at national level, improve working conditions and have trade union liberties. Every country has two faces in capitalism. One is the face of wealth and luxury, a handful of people living by exploiting the work of the majority. On the other hand, the massive majority of the workers in any country trying to make ends meet with starvation wages. Even the workers that daily feed thousands of people, as the workers of the multinational McDonald’s, have difficulty in feeding their own families. The struggle of any workers to have a life and a job with full rights is a struggle of all the workers. Also in Greece today we fight for Collective Agreements with better wages in all sectors and immediate reinstatement of Minimum Wage. From Greece, the Trade Union of Workers in Catering-Tourism-Hotels of Athens, the Secretariat in Catering-Tourism of PAME, the class trade union movement of the country sent a message of solidarity to the workers who took the streets in the USA, in order to establish their basic labor rights.
