Cuba: US Hatched Diplomatic Crisis

Havana, June 13 (Prensa Latina).- Cuba accused the US of making up pretexts, with the participation of the US Interest Section in Havana (USIS), to create a diplomatic crisis, end migration agreements, and cut off the purchase of food.

In an editorial published by Granma daily on Tuesday, Havana denies having carried out hostile actions against USIS, as some US dailies and spokespersons from President George W. Bush´s administration have claimed.

The New Herald and the US government spokespersons are 'telling a bare-faced lie when they accuse our government of an alleged cut off of electricity and the reduction of drinking water supply to the USIS,' notes the official Cuban daily.

The Miami daily, well-know for its open opposition to the Cuban Revolution, reported that the USIS in Havana had started to destroy documents as a prelude of a possible evacuation, according to an anonymous source.

Granma revealed that despite the subversive actions of US diplomats in Havana and the provocation from an electronic billboard located at the USIS, through which anti Cuban messages are published, that diplomatic office has neither been under constant pressure nor been openly attacked.

The recent accusations against Cuba, adds Granma, also aim at distracting attention from the real problem, which is the Isis’s subversive and provocative actions against Havana.

'If the US government is seeking to remove that office from Cuba, cut off food sales and finish off the migration agreements, just do it, and stop making up pretexts,' slams Granma.

'Our Revolution will never violate or attack any embassy,' concludes the Granma editorial.
