FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

'ARISTIDE AND THE ENDLESS REVOLUTION' TO PREMIERE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2005 AT PIONEER’S TWO BOOTS THEATER, NEW YORK FOLLOWED BY A ROLLOUT IN SELECT REGIONAL THEATERS.

Baraka Productions will launch Nicolas Rossier’s riveting documentary about Haiti’s twice deposed leader, Jean-Bertrand Aristide. ARISTIDE and the Endless Revolution focuses on the complex period in Haiti’s history from the time when Aristide, a former parish priest, was removed from office with CIA support in 1999, up to the recent U.S. led coup d’etat in 2004 when he was once again deposed, and this time exiled to Pretoria, South Africa where he now remains.

The film shines the spotlight on one of the world’s poorest countries, and though a series of interviews with not only former President Aristide himself but numerous international public figures, including U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Roger Noriega, investigates Haiti’s 200 year history of violence, poverty and gross human rights violations. Both supporters and critics of the regime examine the political, sociological and economic turmoil of the country that has been prevalent for decades.

The film shows the current chaotic situation under the present interim government in the aftermath of the corrupt and brutal regimes of the Duvalier leaders, followed by two internationally master-minded coups.

Award-winning, Swiss filmmaker, Rossier has created an informative and moving testimony to the Haitian peoples’ struggles against oppression, and the role played by outside influences and interests in their country.

Following a screening for the World Affairs Council in San Francisco, Wanda Sabir of the San Francisco Bay View commented:

'Well-made, balanced review of recent events set in a historic, political context. There are great interviews with key players from both sides, especially President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.'
